Homecoming, Senior, Sadies Fun

It was going to be a big night. Not only was it Jason and Josh last JV game of the season but it was also Homecoming and Senior night. I knew before it even started it was going to be a long day of fun and maybe even the occasional tear.

Homecoming at our school happens twice a year. Its not just during Football Season but its also during Basketball Season. I think that is pretty cool that they do it twice a year. Gives more opportunities for the kids to be on Homecoming Court.

This year we were lucky enough that two of our four teenagers were on the Homecoming Court. Jackson, our Senior, was prince this year for his grade and Cassie, our Junior, was princess for her class. We were proud to see them. Here are a couple pics of them with their dates for the night. I love that Jackson rocked the  bowtie and I thought that Cassie looks so beautiful.

It was also Senior night. Senior night means its the last home game of the season for well Seniors. They got to be announced over the intercom and also come up to shake their dads hands and give their mothers a hug and a rose. I am glad this time I didn't cry. Football Senior night I did however.  cant believe Jackson is a Senior and in just a couple months he will be graduated. Heck I cant believe he is going to be 18 in less than a week. I am SO OLD! He has grown so much and we are so very proud of him.

After all the games and festivities the kids had Sadie Hawkins dance. Did I tell you it was a long night haha! Lots of fun and lots of things for the kids to do. Sadie Hawkins is the dance where the girl asks the boy to go. Instead of dressing up all fancy they buy matching shirts or couples shirts. Cassie had asked her friend Chad to go with her. She did it in a unique way since he loves Tacos so much. Even gave him a Chocolate Taco Ice cream along with the invite. Man kids are clever these days.

Jackson was asked by his GF Kayla. She asked him at a previous basketball game and got all the kids to help with it. Too cute. She even gave him his favorite Reece's snacks. They didn't last long in our house. Thankfully Jack shared.

So the events started at 4pm and ended at 1am. It was a good day of a lot of memories. One that we will continue to do for the next three years with the kids. Josh next year will be our Varsity Basketball player and Jason wont be the newbie anymore on JV. I love seeing them play and thankfully I have a couple more years of watching it! Love all my kids.

Homecoming and Sad/Happy Tears

When you have four teenagers your life is dull. Ok, seriously did anyone believe me when I just said that? Because if you did you need to stop right now because you are living in some weird bubble somewhere and have never been around one teenagers let alone four ha!

This was homecoming night for the school and also senior night for the well…Seniors.

Events started at 4pm and ran till 10pm. We started out with Cassie having her Varsity Volleyball game. They looked so awesome in their outfits for Breast Cancer Awareness month. I loved calling Cassie name from the stands. She had Grandma (MIL), Nana Robin, Papa Pat and all of us cheering for her and the team. She kept giving us the “omg mom don’t embarrass me” look. Ha! Then they had JV Volleyball. After that everyone moved to the Football Field to the Homecoming game. Before the game they had senior night where they announce each senior playing Football and what they like and love and will miss. The seniors then go and give their parents a rose to say Thank you. We however thought this happened at half time. Ryan and I ran all the way back to the house because we brought the good camera but forgot to grab the battery. We wanted great pictures of all of this.

We actually got there JUST as the football game started. Got to the seats and sat down. We had a whole crew of us. Ryan’s Dad and other Mom were visiting from Texas just to come see this game (mind you we live In California), Mil was there as usual and then Ryan and I and the kids. After sitting down a good friend of mine came over and said we had missed the Senior part of the night. I was devastated. I thought that it was at half time like it usually is. They had changed it however because they were doing Homecoming at half time now. I didn’t realize that. Lets be honest…I broke into tears. I missed my one son doing Color Guard and my other son trying to show his gratitude. The part that hurt me as a parent the most is that I knew he was looking for us and we weren’t there. Josh wasn’t upset we missed Color Guard because he was doing the exact same thing a week later and we would see it and get great pictures. To him it wasn’t that big of a deal. He did amazing though and carried the American Flag. Friends gave me some pictures. I hugged him and told him how proud I was of him.

At this point you just have to say to yourself that there is nothing that could be done. So you just have to put a smile on your face and enjoy the game that your two boys are playing. Jackson who is a Senior this year and Jason who is a freshman. To have their grandparents there cheering them on along with their parents was pretty darn cool! They made some great plays and we heard Jacksons name over the loud speaker many times for great blocks to help the team get a touchdown. It was a great game! I wish Jason would have been able to play but being Senior night they let them play a lot more than usual even. I loved the small moments when Jason and Jackson were standing next to each other getting ready to go in.

Sidenote. Jason is #16 but didn’t want his own jersey as when Jackson graduates he is going to take his jersey. That’s why it doesn’t say Collins on the back of both of them. Jackson is #15 because that is his little brothers bday. Its just so cool.

So halftime events came up and all the sudden over the speaker I hear “ There is one Senior who wasn’t able to give his mom a rose as she just is a month out of brain surgery and got here in time for the game. Jackson collins…..go find your mother”. Jack ran from the field and came up to me to give me a rose. I look over and Sally (MIL) is bawling too! He hugged me, then Mil, then went down the line hugging his Nana Robin and Papa Pat and then his dad. He had tears in his eyes too! It was so special that we actually ended up not missing it. I was devastated when I thought I had. I am sure that Jack loved loved loved the extra attention since everyone in the stands was clapping and hooting. Made his day too!

He went out after and finished the second half with a storm. His spirits were high and we were all cheering like mad. It was a great event. I was so happy that Ryan’s Dad and other mom were able to be here. Not only did they get to see one child but they got to see all four of the teenagers doing something. I loved hearing how much they love our little town and how impressed they were of all the kids. It was fun introducing them to our friends and showing them around our town. We were lucky that they came to visit as Texas is a long ways away.

The night turned out great. We won the game and are now in playoffs for the Championships. Josh has another Color Guard for Veterans day and Cassie Volleyball season is coming to a close. It was a great day.

So, I don’t know if you are wondering how they knew that we weren’t there or how the announcement ended up coming over the loud speaker at half time right before Homecoming Court came out. Well at one point in the game my husband said he had to go to the car to get another SD card for the camera that we brought and missed everything for ha! He actually went up to the box and talked to the announcer about if they could redo that moment just for me. The town knows that I had surgery and this was my first real outing since then. It was important for me to be there for all four of my kids. I wouldn’t of missed it for the world. That’s true love. When you see that your wife and your child missed something that couldn’t be redone. He made it happen. I always tell him that he is my superhero. He truly is. We all were able to experience that event and it ended up being even more special because he decided to go talk to the announcer about it. I love the look on Jacksons grandparents faces. It was priceless. The look of crying or the look of how proud they were. I seriously cant believe I am going to be doing this three more times with my three other children in the next three years. Someone seriously help me! I am not going to be a good empty nester at all. Horrible in fact!

The night ended well. Everyone was happy and things always happen for a reason. Even if that reason ends up being your hubby making the night better for you and your son. I will forever remember that moment!

Super bowl is about Basketball?

Ok I know that Super bowl is about Football but this Super bowl weekend we had 5 basketball games for our kids so I am going to say its more about Basketball:)

Friday was Homecoming night. In our town we have Homecoming for Football and also for Basketball. Seniors had the feed for which I was grateful because I didn't have to help work it since I have 8th thru Juniors in my house. Juniors did have the Bake Sale and Sophomores were doing a donation 50/50 so we will still busy. I was happy that I was able to really sit down and watch the games. High School played Friday. Josh is in JV and did really well. He tried to make two shots which was awesome that he got out there. This is his first year playing he is a freshman. Here is the link to see his tries Josh Shot

Jackson is a Junior and in Varsity. I love watching them come out because all the little kids line up at the locker room to make like a tunnel. You know that has to make them feel awesome. Its easy to explain but better to show so here is the link.....Varsity Coming In

Josh and Jackson both won their games. After they had a Homecoming dance and we had two extra kids spending the night at our house. I kind of like that our kids don't really go to other ppl houses to spend the night but rather their friends always want to come here. Makes it fun and also I can always keep my watchful eye out:) Gosh MOM I know right! :) Here is Jackson getting his groove on in basketball too....Jackson Playing

Friday was a long night with the kids coming home at 1am from the dance. Then we had to get back up in the morning early because Jason had a game and the 8th graders were doing concessions the whole tournament. I left early with a couple of the kids and Ryan brought the rest right before the game. The 8th graders did good at selling the concessions for their 8th grade graduation and big trip. Jason's team did really well at both of their games. They lost BUT they made more points than they ever have. This is Jason's first year of basketball also and he made a shot in both games. I was so proud. Here is that video....Jacks Shot!

At the end of the events I actually wasn't feeling well. I had felt that morning I was coming down with something but my head was pounding away by the time we got home. Ryan ended up taking Jason to go get his first ever steer for 4H. I don't know what he is going to name him yet  but I am sure he will come up with something clever. I love that Jason is going to show a Steer this year and sell him later. How it works in our house is we will buy the animal for the kids, we will buy the feed too. Everything is marked down though in our journal and when Jason sells the steer we get our money back in full and he gets to keep the rest for himself. If he is smart he will use some of that to buy a steer for the next year and keep making money. You can make 1000 plus dollars. Ryan jokes with me that we should get a bunch and sell them for more money for the kids college. I am starting to think that is a good idea and not so much of a joke. Here is Jason's Steer....:)

Also Saturday night Jason got invited by his good friend Cooper and their family to go to a College Basketball game. I think was a great thing because even though they had scored more point than they ever have at their game today the boys were pretty bummed out. To tears even for my 8th grade son. Its all a learning experience and he has fun 99 percent of the time and was feeling fine after the game. Thank you Albaugh family for taking him. He had a great time and is still talking about it and what he had learned!

Is the weekend over yet? Nope! I know right! You think with all of this we would be done but we are just onto Sunday now ha! We were going to go to church and also to a Super bowl party at our friends but ended up staying home in our PJs because I was not even close to feeling well.

I am thankful I have the husband I do. He made Nachos and wings for the kids and we all piled in the family room to watch the game. I took a long nap before the game started and he woke me up just in time. We had a great time watching the game together. Would of been a lot of fun to be with our friends but didn't want to be spreading those germs. Josh and I were rooting for the Seahawks and the other four were rooting for the Patriots. We laughed though because midway Cassie said that she was going to root for the Seahawks that she was confused because of the color of their jersey. Football is not Cassie's thing. She is an Anime, drawing lover through and through. She likes Anime so much that when I walked into the bathroom I saw her Wig that she does Cosplay with hanging up because she had washed it ha! Yep that's my Cassie Girl!

The day ended well. Only thing I didn't like about the Superbowl was at the end when they were throwing punches. We were all talking about how that is so unsportsmanlike and how its not something we would do in our household. It made how much they tried and did a good job (both teams) look foolish and took away from the great game they had.

So super bowl is over now. We have Katy Perrys song stuck in our head and I am ready for Bed again. It was a good weekend!
