Two Down, Two to go

I am back to blogging. As all of you know I write like I talk. That means there will be a lot of misspellings and punctuation errors. Just go with the flow!

Two down Two to Go.

I am 41 years old and seriously cannot believe that I am sitting here in the shop because its the only place with real internet. I have four teenagers. From 19 to 17 years old. Huge span huh? I feel as though I am missing a huge part of our lives already. Jackson joined the military back in April and Cassandra left for UC Davis this last week. Still in the house is Joshua and Jason but man does it seem quiet.

For a mom who loves their children its kind of always a good and bad thing when the kids call because they are homesick. Especially when they are calling a couple times a day. In a way you think to yourself that you  must of done something right because they actually miss being at home. Then other times you feel as if you have done something wrong because they are missing you too much. Did I teach them to be independent enough?

Why is it that no matter how your kids are doing you always feel you could be doing better with them? I mean seriously they both are doing well and decided to go somewhere after college that will get them somewhere in life.

Jackson did great in basic training. He is just finishing his school of Advanced Individual Training and scored a 91 percent. I mean that is amazing. He knows it too and knows that he is doing better now then he even did in High School.

Cassandra got a full ride to UC Davis. She called crying missing the family and worried she wouldn't do well in classes. I knew once the class actually started she would be happier and know she could do it. Classes started. She is happier lol.

So I have two down so to speak and two more kids to go. Its so much more quiet in the house with just two of them left. Its going to go by way too fast too. Joshua is a Senior this year and then next will be Jason who will be one next year. Where has the time gone?

I just cant get over the fact that some day the kids wont need me anymore. Then I have to stop and say "hey not even true" to myself because if my mom was still alive I would still need her. Thankfully I have my MIL or my Father to go to if I still need help.

This Season seems to be an exciting but tough one for me. Most parent cant wait for this stage in life. I am just helping my kids to keep growing and keep becoming independent while staying in their lives even from a distance.

I know the kids miss us as much as we miss them. Soon in a span of two years all four of the kids will be out of the house starting to live their own lives. For now I will text two of them daily to see how they are doing. And the other two seem to think they will get away with murder because we want to spend more time with them lol.

The one thing I do know is no matter what happens in my kids lives I will always be there for them. They each have a part of my heart and soul. I have my own life but if they ever need us I will stop whatever I am doing to help them.

Excited for their new lives and for growing up into amazing young men
and woman.

Love you always, Rae (mom)

Organize my Life

I need someone to come organize my life. Oh and for free ha! This morning I was up and out the door by 6am. Had to meet the Cargo Container guy in town and take him to our new land. Of course I had to grab a coffee first at our only gas station in town. She laughed at me when asked how many shots I wanted. I said 22 please :) She decided for my health and the fact we are friends that maybe 3 was good. All I have to say is the world is lucky I managed to put on eyeliner and mascara:)

The kids were having big days too. Picture day, Field trip to a College, Cake Sale (for which I made the creepiest cupcakes), a Junior Feed at the Volleyball Game and Football Practice.

I need someone to come organize my time and my life. I am falling behind. Do you guys feel like your ever falling behind? I met with my contracting friend Christine at 8 and we started working on permits for our house, construction and the land. Did I say her mind works better in the morning than mine. Went to our new land. We bought 20 acres in town. All I can say is I will be sooooooooooo excited when I don't live on a 15 mile dirt road. I am not even sure what color my new car is. Come to think of it. Not sure what any of the colors of the cars or trucks are. Dirt! Is that a color? It should be!

It was a nice day to walk the whole plot and measure every last inch of where things had to be and where they are going. Thank goodness for Christines contracting mind~! Love her! It helps she is my friend too so its not boring while we are doing everything. After hours of paperwork, walking, her drawing plot plans I was off to go back to my house. The kids actually beat me home for once.

As soon as I walked in the door the questions started:) Love that about my kids. Also that they want to tell you about their day and what have been going on. Some days they really can be a breath of fresh air.

I got a lot done today but I need someone to come and organize my life. I have more paperwork to do and organizing it to go and turn it in tomorrow. All I can see right now is that I need to do another load of laundry and have to water my plants and lawn first. How do you guys do it all if you have had a long day? Do you let some things go? Or just get it done because its not going to do it itself? I personally am just gonna do it anyways.

All I know is 22 shots of espresso would be great right now:) I am super excited about our land and house though. Now we just have to get it so the house is on the land. Its going to be a big process but once its done I am going to sit on my porch and drink as many coffees as I want. Oh and sleep in:)

Remember to comment. We have a contest going on for a drawing for Starbucks Gift Card.

Our Crazy Week!!

How much can you pack into a week? With four teenagers and moving from one Ranch to the other….You can pack a lot in. I might actually sleep a little while I write this blog to catch up ha. ZZZZZ…okay back! I am awake. What was I saying again? Oh yes! We had a crazy fun week.

We have had two baseball games with Jason. They won both games and he was able to steal home. I love watching him play especially because he enjoys it so much.

Joshua turned 15! I still can’t believe I have a 15 year old that is 6’2’’. He is by far the tallest in our household. He has outgrown Ryan and I by the time he was 14 ha! I still can’t believe he is already 15. He had a great time with his friends the weekend before with a slumber party. He was beyond excited when he got his present of his headphones that he has been wanting forever. On his ACTUAL birthday we were moving and let me tell you he used that to his advantage ha! Plus that got all the kids more snacks and soda which we don’t normally have in the house. The other kids were grateful for that too. Right now is the only time of the year that I have a 17, 16, 15 and then 14 year old. At different times of the year it ends up being two 17 year olds and two 15 year olds. That’s what happens when you have an amazing blended family.

Side note! Four teenagers. In just one week we will have a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. What was I ever thinking? In four years it’s going to be so quiet. I am SO NOT looking forward to that.

Then we had the FFA event. Future Farmers of America where Cassie and Joshua both won awards. It was a nice Tri tip Dinner and seeing what they have been doing this year. It was a good event. Jackson was in FFA last year and Jason is in 4H this year. It will be interesting which kids decide to do it next year. Joshua won his Greenhand Degree and Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event Award. Cassie received her Chapter FFA degree. I was very proud of those two.

The kids had a field trip couple hours away to an Aquatics Center also. They had a lot of fun with their friends. Pretty neat to be a small school so everyone could all go. Love how they do this at the end of the year.

Then on top of all of this we were moving. Yep! We moved a whole house of stuff from one ranch to another. I am so grateful for my husband and kids. I have to give extra kudos to my oldest Jackson because he really used a lot of strength. We got a HUGE U-Haul, loaded it in one day and unloaded it the next.  Then had to bring all the animals up also. It was just the 6 of us and Jackson’s good friend Mateo.  Thankfully it was a three day weekend. We were all beat. The kids set up their rooms and I worked on the rest of the house while also feeding them every 5 minutes it seemed. You know teenagers get…they are NEVER full.

I absolutely love this house. Love Love Love it! Its beautiful inside and out but the views are glorious for as far as the eye can see. This was one crazy week! Next week is even more. 8th grade trip, Baseball games, Academic Awards Ceremony, Ortho Appointments and Maybe a Bull riding event if the double header gets done in time. Oh and did I mention Finals and Graduations? Man this time of year is crazy busy but its so worth it. I really should stop beating myself up for not blogging this week huh? Now that we are all set up in the new house I will be more on top of it. Its hard to blog when your stuff is in a box. J

Why we are Moving?

When your husband runs 3 ranches there is A LOT of driving involved for everything. Work, School, Shopping etc. I guess I should give some background. We used to live in a house off of the Ranches so we would be closer to the schools. When that house sold all three Ranch houses we were renting out so we ended up having to rent ourselves till a lease ended. We knew that God was doing this for some reason or another. When we first moved to Big Valley the main house was open. Its an amazing house on 3000 acres with streams and beauty all around. Its deafening silent though out there. You hear every sound, every coyote howl, every russel of a tree. Since we came from the city we thought our kids would go crazy out there since the internet is horrible and there is land for miles around. We had spent summers out there when Ryan was working before we made the move to Big Valley. We all loved it but it was SUCH a BIG change.

God knew though. He put us in a huge house with five bedrooms that was three stories high. It was an amazing house that I could see my grandkids come to. ** like in 20 years lol!** God had other plans though. Things happened at work and the house was sold. We moved to a small  3 bedroom house that is cramped. All three of our boys share the Master bedroom. This was needed though. It brought our family closer and this last year has been great. Its right next to one of the main ranches so we were able to work it easy and have our animals close.

After all this learning and growing the Main house opened up. 2 years ago we wouldn't of dreamed of living there. This year its the right time. We now have more drivers in the house so that's helpful. Now a 40 minute drive just to drop off the kids at school and then come home would be hard but Jack can drive the kids to school. Its one of the main ranches so Ryan is there a lot especially during winter. It has a lot of history for us too.

The Main House
This house Ryan's mother used to run as a fishing lodge many years ago. Ryan even worked as a fishing guide when he was still a teen at this house. Jacksons first Halloween was at this house 17 years ago. Its the best size house for us all. Still only three bedrooms and two full baths BUT its much larger... has a game room and a big pantry which we need with four teens. It also has a bunk house next to the Main house and plenty of room for our animals. The kids will love the bunk house when their friends come for sleepovers as they will of course be living in the Main house with us any other time.

We are excited to move. Its a blessing and we wont be moving again for a very long time. Ryan said he feels like God was slowly trying to get us back to this house. It was where we were meant to be. Now the kids want to move there and don't think about how far it is......because EVERYTHING is far:) 70 miles to the nearest Starbucks! Its a place that is peaceful and beautiful. Just look at the view out the living room window. Tell me that isn't Gods Country?
My cup of coffee view

Our animals will be closer and love it. We have the room we need for Tractors, Animals, Trucks, Teens and a garden:) I have to start packing as we will be moving in the next months. Its going to be a big project.....but its home.
OUR home......3,000 acres to tend too and we will love every single moment of that. Fresh air and Beauty for miles. I cant wait till we move. For now....I wish I could just click my heels and have everything over there ha! We have to wait for our renters to move out and then we will move in. I am counting down the days. Now the important question...Does anyone have some boxes I could borrow?
